Hetku privacy policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026.

Hetku shows public transport in real time. You don't need an account: the app signs in with an anonymous ID, which is not linked to your name or email.

Who is responsible

The name and contact address are published here before the app is released.

Needed for the app to work, always on

Location, on your phone. Your location finds your city and nearby stops. It is only stored as described below while usage history is on.

Your settings. Favorites, alerts and your notification token are stored with your anonymous ID, so that alerts can reach you.

Questions to transit services. To show departures and plan trips, the stop or the places you choose are sent to public journey planners. Searches for addresses go to Apple.

What you send us. If you report a problem or rate a trip, we keep what you chose or wrote with the trip's lines, times, start and destination.

Ride timings, only if you turn them on. When your bus passed each stop, with nothing linking it to you.

On by default, you can turn it off

You agree to this by pressing Start when you first open the app. Turn it off any time in Profile, Privacy:

Usage history. When you joined and last opened the app, your phone model, app version and language, your country, roughly where you opened the app (to about 100 m), and the trips you plan and start: where from, where to, lines and times.

Analytics. Screens and features you use, through Firebase Analytics. No search text, comments or coordinates.

Crash reports. What the app was doing when it failed, through Firebase Crashlytics.

The legal basis is your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)); for the part needed to run the app, providing the service you asked for (article 6(1)(b)). You can withdraw consent at any time in Profile, Privacy, which stops collection from then on.

Who handles it

Google (Firebase) stores this data for us, on servers in the EU and the USA under Standard Contractual Clauses. We don't sell data, show ads or share it with anyone else.

How long

Until you delete it. Profile, Privacy, Delete my data removes your history, reports, alerts, favorites and saved places, from your phone and our database, at once. Ride timings can't be removed because nothing ties them to you.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, move or delete your data, and object to how it is used. You can complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, www.aki.ee) or the authority where you live.
